Mark spent more than seven years as a business journalist in the Middle East before deciding on a change in career and joining Acuity in 2014.

He is now an Associate in our construction team where his role involves drafting and negotiating a wide range of documentation on a number of high-profile projects and transactions.

Mark was awarded a law degree from the University of London, and won the University of Law’s sole annual full scholarship to complete his legal studies at the institution’s London Bloomsbury centre.

 

  • Negotiating bespoke construction agreements including:
    - Professional appointments
    - Collateral warranties
    - Schedules of Amendments to standard form contracts
    - Subcontracts
  • Advising on project funding and security including the drafting of parent company guarantees and performance bonds
  • Advising on construction disputes<
  • Advising developer Rightacres Property Co. Limited on its high-profile Central Square development – a £400 million project to transform central Cardiff which includes, Wales Broadcasting House, Two Central Square, the new Wales headquarters for HMRC and the Interchange
  • Acting for Principality Building Society - Wales’ biggest building society - on their funding of The Mill, a residential development of 700 new homes in Cardiff
  • Advising a sizeable UK contractor against a major utility provider in respect of a dispute which centres on a major energy transmission network
  • Working with a major developer on an ambitious scheme to redevelop a disused fire station on a prime London site into a sought-after school and residential properties
  • Acting for a prominent educational organisation on a major extension of its popular science-centred visitor attraction
